- procedures relating to gum disease
Limitations on Provincial Dental Coverage for Seniors
Dental coverage is based on the Dental Assistance for Seniors Program Fee Schedule, which establishes both the maximum fee amount and frequency of coverage for eligible services.
Services not covered include:
- dental crowns
- fixed dental bridges
- braces and orthodontics
- dental implants
- fluoride treatments
- teeth whitening and other cosmetic procedures
- inlays (gold or gems)
Eligibility Requirements for Senior Dental Coverage
The following is a list of requirements to be eligible for senior dental coverage programs in Alberta:
- You must provide proof of being 65 years of age or older. Acceptable documents include a birth certificate, old-age pension entitlement form, passport or immigration records, and a Canadian Citizenship Certificate.
- Have lived in the province for a minimum of 3 months prior to applying.
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Have an annual income within program guidelines.
